The PLPOA Annual Meeting SummaryThe Pine Lake Property Owners Association held its 6th Virtual Annual Meeting on May 14, 2026, where members reviewed important updates on association governance, lake management, finances, water safety, and community initiatives. Members approved all motions presented during the meeting, including adoption of the updated PLPOA By-Laws, approval of the 2025 Annual Meeting Minutes, acceptance of the 2025 Treasurer’s Report, approval of the 2026 Budget, and keeping 2026 annual dues at the same level as 2025. The membership also unanimously approved the recommended slate of incumbent board members for re-election. Those Board members re-elected include: Lucy Henney, Kris Mayer, Tracey Fulton and Lucy Young. The meeting featured expert presentations on Pine Lake’s 2025 water quality trends, aquatic plant management, and lake water levels. Dr. David Jude reported improved water clarity in 2025, while also highlighting ongoing concerns related to internal nutrient loading, phosphorus levels, invasive species, and shoreline runoff. Members were encouraged to help protect lake health by reducing fertilizer use, planting shoreline rain gardens or greenbelts, cleaning boats to prevent invasive species, and properly disposing of leaves and fireworks debris. Additional reports covered goose nest and egg management, boating safety enforcement, and PLPOA communications initiatives. The Board thanked members, sponsors, and volunteers for their continued support in protecting Pine Lake and maintaining it as a safe, healthy, and enjoyable all-sports lake community. Thank you to all who attended the virtual Annual Meeting! ________________________________________________________________________________________ Geese Management on Pine Lake SummaryPLPOA continues its annual Goose Management Program to help protect Pine Lake’s water quality by reducing geese populations and minimizing E. coli contamination. This expert-recommended program is performed each spring by licensed vendor Goose Busters, led by Chris Compton. During April 11–25, 2026, Goose Busters made several visits to Pine Lake and removed 4 nests containing 22 eggs, including 2 nests along the lakeshore and 2 in the canal. A new flag system was introduced last year to help identify suspicious nesting activity, particularly in canal areas. Thank you to our Riparians who used the flags to help the program locate and address nesting sites more efficiently. PLPOA appreciates residents’ continued support of this important effort to maintain a cleaner, healthier lake environment. Lucy Shields Henney, DVM PLPOA Board Member; Silver Sponsor ________________________________________________________________________________________ Water Level UpdatePine Lake is currently at a relatively high water level, measuring approximately 931.9 feet above sea level and about 5 inches above the desired level following strong winter ice coverage and beneficial spring rains. As a basin lake, Pine Lake depends entirely on rain and snow for replenishment. We can release water when needed, but we cannot bring additional water in, so the Board works to maintain water levels as high as reasonably possible to help protect the lake during anticipated summer drought conditions, hot temperatures, and windy weather. At the same time, PLPOA continues to carefully balance lake levels to support overall lake health while avoiding excessively high water that could negatively impact docks, seawalls, and shoreline properties.
